How does the assessment process work?
First, one of our psychologists will meet with you for a thorough intake interview session. If the testing is for a child or adolescent, they will meet with the parents the first session. The goal of this session is to find out the reason for referral, obtain thorough background information, and work together to develop a plan for the assessment.
Your psychologist will develop an individually tailored battery of tests based on your needs and questions. A full evaluation can range from 4-10 hours and is often completed over a period of several visits.
Depending on the reason for referral, a letter or a complete psychological report fully explaining the results of the testing will be written. This in-depth report typically contains background information, test scores and interpretations, and a summary with recommendations.
Finally, we meet with you for a final session to discuss the results of the evaluation, answer questions, and provide appropriate recommendations and referrals. We can also communicate this information to medical providers, schools, or other treatment providers at this time if you request this.
